Last session for the season

The Club hires the Riverside Pool each Wednesday night 7.30-8.45pm for Club members & non-members alike to train & practice kayak techniques indoors in warm water.

Instruction in rolling technique is usually available from Club mentors. See website under “TRAINING” for details as to costs and requirements.

Leave from Kaiuma and paddle around into Keneperu sound, staying at Ferndale camp site. Visit St Omer and ship wreck and a chance to explore the rest of Keneperu Sound on the second day.
DOC campsite $6 per night. Pay at campsite have cash ready.

Explore outer Queen Charlotte Sound
Leaving from Waikawa Bay. 21 kms to Blumine Island.Base camp Blumine Island DOC campsite. Bookable.$6.
Limited space. Trip limited to 6 Orange paddlers.
Possible day trip towards Ship Cove/Cannibal Cove. Endeavour Inlet. Pickersgill Island. Return to Waikawa on Monday.

Almost a full moon paddle up to Sabine Hut. Stay 2 nights and paddle out on Sunday.

Moon rises at 4.28 pm

Must be capable of self-rescue & paddle fit

Night paddle to Coldwater Hut on the edge of Lake Rotoiti. Moon rises at 5.16 pm. Paddle back down the lake on Saturday morning to meet the day paddlers. For those that wish to stay Saturday night there is the choice of Coldwater Hut or a 500 m walk into Lakehead Hut. Participants will arrange their own DOC tickets (Coldwater Hut 1 standard ticket for hut, Lakehead Hut must be booked online
